Photogrammetry is the science of making measurements from photographs. It displays exact positions of surface points, and it can be used to recover the motion pathways of designated reference points located on any object in a moving or fixed environment. Photogrammetry employs high-speed imaging and remote sensing in order to detect, measure and record complex 2-D and 3-D motion fields.
BIM is an acronym that stands for Building Information Modeling. It uses advanced software that creates a 3D virtual model of buildings. BIM utilizes acquisition building data and organizes into a structure database easy to query both in a "visual" and a "numerical" way. BIM uses 3D digital modeling of a building. This model, however, is way more than pure geometry and nice textures cast over it for visualization. A BIM model consists of virtual equivalents of the actual building parts and pieces used to build a building. These elements have all the characteristics - both physical and logical - of their real counterparts. These intelligent elements are the digital prototype of the physical building elements such as walls, columns, windows, doors, stairs etc. that allow us to simulate the building and understand its behavior in a computer environment way before the actual construction starts.
